Partner Lucy Morris quoted in Bloomberg BNA CFPB enforcement update article
On November 23, Bloomberg BNA published an article on the state of the CFPB one year after Mick Mulvaney took over as acting director. As the Senate prepares to vote on confirmation of his replacement, Bloomberg spoke to Partner Lucy Morris and other consumer financial services attorneys on what changes may be coming for the agency, and how Democratic state attorneys general may be picking up their enforcement efforts where the CFPB has pulled back.
"In cases of multi-state investigations of the same entity, this can be just as burdensome, or even more so, than a CFPB investigation under the previous administration," said Lucy.
Lucy is a partner in Hudson Cook's Washington, D.C. office and chairs the firm's Government Investigations, Examinations and Enforcement practice group. Lucy counsels financial institutions and others in complying with federal consumer financial laws and prohibitions against unfair, deceptive or abusive trade practices. She is an experienced advocate and litigator, representing clients in government investigations, examinations, and enforcement actions before federal and state agencies, including the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Federal Trade Commission, U.S. Department of Justice and state AG offices.
