American College of Consumer Financial Services Lawyers elects Partner Kate Fisher as Fellow, Jean Noonan as President
Hudson Cook congratulates Partner Kate Fisher on her recent election as a Fellow of the American College of Consumer Financial Services Lawyers (ACCFSL). Fellows of the College have achieved preeminence in the field of consumer financial services law and have made repeated and substantial contributions to the promotion of learning and scholarship in consumer financial services law.
Kate is a partner in the firm's Maryland office and co-chairs the firm's Business Funding practice group. Kate represents banks, finance companies, private equity and investment bank investors, merchant cash advance companies, and small business lenders establishing new programs and products, and conducts due diligence and compliance reviews of consumer lending and business financing portfolios. Her practice also includes assisting clients with compliance with state and federal consumer protection and related laws as they develop and maintain mortgage lending, automobile finance and other credit programs. Kate is a founding member of the Alternative Finance Bar Association and currently chairs the Maryland State Bar Association's Subcommittee on Consumer Credit. She recently testified before the Maryland House Economic Matters Committee and Senate Finance Committee regarding a proposed bill to regulate sales-based business financing transactions and has testified before the United States House of Representatives Small Business Subcommittee regarding improving small business capital access.
The firm is also proud to announce that Partner Jean Noonan has been elected to serve as the College's President. Jean is a Founding Member of the College, served on its Board of Regents from 1998-2002, as Chair of the Lifetime Achievement Award Committee from 2002-2005, Chair of the Annual Writing Competition from 2013-2015, and recently as Treasurer and President Elect of the College.
Kate's election brings the number of Hudson Cook attorneys elected as Fellows of the College to a total of 18. Firm co-founders Robert Cook and Tom Hudson, along with Partner Emeritus Anne Fortney, previously received the College's Lifetime Achievement Award.
